Overview: Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, the nursing assistant performs various duties in the care and treatment of patients in accordance with established methods and procedures of the Medical Center.
Responsibilities:
Continuously observes patients' behavior, mental status and activities, notifies RN of any changes or unusual occurrences.
Consistently and independently maintains a safe, clean environment for patients.
Consistently adheres to established BBMC Close Observation Patient and Suicidal Patient Protocols
Consistently and independently documents patient observation data on the Close Observation Supervision Record.
Reports maintenance needs.
Utilizes universal precautions.
Gives accurate report to oncoming shift.
Provides patient with explanations as necessary but does not counsel or provide opinions.
Escorts patients when leaving the unit for activities and scheduled tests.
Demonstrates the ability to set limits for patients and other de-escalation techniques.
Qualifications:
BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification
Competencies Skills:
Clear Communication Skills Both Written And Verbal
Able To Keep Confidential Information Regarding Patients, Team Members
Able To Withstand Crisis Situations
Has Skills To Provides Customer Service To Patients, Team Members And Visitors
Knowledge And Experience With Electronic Health Records
Credentials:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Other Information:
Must read the BBMC Close Observation and Suicidal Patient Protocols and successfully complete the accompanying test.
CPI certified.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset
Basic Computer skills.
Starting at: USD $16.50/Hr.
