Patient Referral Coordinator
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Expected hours: 40 per week
Benefits:
- Verify Insurance coverage with patients and refer to pre-authorization pool;
- Perform pre-certifications as needed;
- Enter all data into the EMR;
- Meet with patients or contact Patient’s to schedule MRI and advise patient of the time and location of appointment;
- Make follow-up calls to referring MD offices to ensure patients have been scheduled for an appointment;
- May Contact Primary Care Physician to obtain PCP to obtain referral, if needed;
- Submit referrals to outside physician’s office and supply needed medical records;
- Correct errors of MRI orders and Insurance information in system if needed;
- Research additional information needed, have patients chart updated with appropriate information;
- Answering incoming calls and respond to voice mail messages; obtain demographic information, schedule appointments with patients;
- Responds to requests and provides copies of x-rays and/or MRI’s;
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to operate a telephone, fax machine, photocopier, and personal computer including proficiency in windows based computer system;
- Must adhere to strict patient confidentiality code;
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills;
- Ability to be detail oriented while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks;
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in a medical office setting; orthopedic experience preferred;
- Understanding of medical terminology;
- Knowledge of commercial insurance carriers' guidelines and criteria of verification, authorization and reimbursement desired;
