Patient Access Specialist

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is pivotal in ensuring a smooth patient experience from the moment they enter our facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical office operations, including scheduling, documentation review, and familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Athenahealth and Epic. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will be responsible for managing patient information, coordinating appointments, and ensuring compliance with coding standards such as ICD-10.
Hours are Friday through Sunday 9a-9:30pm
** night shift differential!**
Responsibilities

Greet patients upon arrival and assist them with the check-in process.
Review and verify patient documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Schedule appointments efficiently while considering patient needs and availability.
Maintain organized records of patient interactions and ensure data is accurately entered into electronic health record systems.
Collaborate with medical staff to ensure seamless communication regarding patient care requirements.
Assist in coding procedures and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Address patient inquiries regarding services, insurance, and billing processes.
Support office management tasks to enhance operational efficiency within the department.

Requirements

Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
Proficient in documentation review and understanding of medical terminology.
Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Athenahealth or Epic is highly desirable.
Knowledge of coding practices, particularly ICD-10, is a plus.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism at all times.
