What You Will Be Doing:

As a nurse consultant, you'll be at the forefront of shaping health initiatives, using your clinical expertise to guide program managers and colleagues in the Health Systems Collaboration (HSC) Unit. Dive into prevention topics like cardiovascular health, diabetes, dementia, and cancer, and get creative with designing and implementing statewide interventions. This role is your chance to champion health equity and work collaboratively to drive impactful, evidence-based public health solutions. Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
AND
Any combination of education, certification, and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in
  • Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues.
  • Evidence-Based Practice: integrates best research practices with clinical expertise and patient values for optimum care and participates in learning and research activities to the extent feasible.
  • Health Research: Knowledge of the evidence-based principles, strategies, methods, processes, and best practices used to identify and define health issues and develop relevant research, investigations, evaluations, assessments, reporting of results, and recommendations.
  • Partnering: Develops networks and builds alliances; collaborates across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals.
  • Public Health: Applies knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, methods, and tools associated with protecting and improving the health of people and their communities, including promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and injury prevention, and detecting, preventing, and responding to infectious diseases equivalent to those typically gained by:
Post-secondary education in nursing, public health, healthcare services, healthcare administration, or a closely related field that includes either a bachelor's degree in nursing or Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing;
AND
Progressively responsible professional nursing experience that includes responsibility in health care, public health, health care delivery systems, nursing administration, consultative nursing, and/or teaching capacity that is relevant to the position's area of nursing specialty.

The State of Alaska uses four proficiency levels to measure and describe an applicant's level of competence in applying certain behaviors, knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish a specific task. The four proficiency levels are Mastery, Fluency, Literacy, and Discovery. You must rate your proficiency level for each competency listed in the supplemental questions.

EDUCATION

To verify education is being used to meet and/or support the required minimum qualifications/competencies, you must fill in the Education section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of units completed. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials used to meet or support the minimum qualifications/competencies for a position and are required with each application.
