Kentucky Distillery Ambassador

Meaningful Work From Day One
The Kentucky Distillery Ambassador manages VIP/Trade/Media brand advocacy programming within the Woodford Reserve, Old Forester, and Brown-Forman Cooperage Visitor Experiences. The role is responsible for building the homeplace VIP/Trade/Media strategy, partnering with key stakeholders on planning and implementation. The role serves as a Brand Ambassador, developing and hosting private and elevated experiences for high profile internal and external audiences. The Ambassador creates brand education models to heighten brand knowledge and expertise among homeplace consumer-facing roles, B-F commercial sales teams and trade.
What You Can Expect
  • Leads Trade/VIP/Media strategy development for our Woodford Reserve, Old Forester and Brown-Forman Cooperage Visitor Experiences. Partners with key stakeholders across homeplaces (homeplace leadership, brand management, Woodford Reserve Master Distillers, Old Forester Assistant Master Distiller, Old Forester Master Taster, IMC, PR, Innovation) on short and long-term planning, process development, resource identification, communication models and program implementation.
  • Serves as a Brand Ambassador, hosting high profile VIP/Trade/Media guests including private and elevated tour, tasting and educational experiences, trade activations, influencer partners, media visits and onsite PR activations for internal and external audiences across the U.S. and internationally. Routinely hosts prominent guests including Brown Family members, Executive Leadership Team Members, investors, shareholders and distributor principals.
  • Develops unique and elevated brand driven experiences to extend and amplify key brand platforms, showcasing the craftsmanship and authenticity of our brands. Ensures alignment with brand direction, collaborating with Master Distillers and Master Taster as needed.
  • Builds and manages trade advocacy program calendar for the homeplaces, collaborating with homeplace leaders and brand team(s) to craft meaningful homeplace experiences in accordance with outlined program objectives.
  • Provides comprehensive oversight of VIP/Trade/Media experiences, ensures robust communication across key stakeholders and works closely with each homeplace team and Kentucky Homeplaces VIP/Trade Coordinator to ensure overall program success.
  • Leads Woodford Reserve Personal Selection and Old Forester Buy the Barrel selections as needed.
  • Assists Public Relations & Partnership Manager - Super Premium American Whiskey with onsite media requests across all Kentucky Homeplaces.
  • Acts as a brand spokesperson for designated public relations and media interviews and opportunities. Serves as a proxy for Master Distillers and Master Taster for high profile engagements as requested.
  • Conducts virtual experiences from the homeplace as needed.
  • Serves as the primary onsite Manager of the Brown-Forman Cooperage Visitor Experience. This includes strategy development, operational oversight, financial management, development of standard operating procedures, field communications, collaborating with production and employee health and safety.
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with global and regional brand teams, commercial team, agency, distributor/broker, internal and external partners.
  • Creates brand education models, leading classes and seminars for Woodford Reserve and Old Forester to heighten knowledge and expertise among homeplace consumer-facing roles, commercial teams and the trade. Provides coaching and mentorship on brand education to ensure homeplace team members reach proficiency.
  • Develops product tasting notes, food pairings and brand fact sheets, as needed to support the brands.
  • Constructs and refines internal processes for scheduling homeplace visits, builds and implements socialization plans in partnership with Kentucky Homeplaces VIP/Trade Coordinator.
  • Directly manages, provides guidance and coaching to the Kentucky Homeplaces VIP/Trade Coordinator.
  • Conducts ongoing competitive analysis, socializing learnings on a monthly basis. Maintains in depth knowledge of the competitive set.
  • Frequently travels between three Louisville locations and one Versailles site with willingness to travel outside of Kentucky for special circumstances.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table
  • 4-year college degre with 6+ years spirits/beverage alcohol experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Personable and hospitable demeanor
  • Extensive knowledge of the whiskey and spirits categories, with the ability to educate others on brand history and production processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to taste and evaluate whiskey products.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present effectively to all audience sizes.
  • Demonstrated skills and ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with people at all levels including internal and external; management groups; sales, marketing; wholesalers, and retailers.
  • Must acquire Brown-Forman Master Taster certification
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must acquire State Serv Safe Permit and be TIPS trained to serve alcohol at events and maintain certification.
  • Must build and maintain knowledge of safety and security policies of the distilleries in relation to media requests; specific understanding of areas of sensitive and dangerous components.
  • Must ensure all activities meet legal, compliance and responsibility guidelines.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (case of whiskey)
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to travel across Kentucky sites on a frequent basis along with travel outside of Kentucky for special circumstances.

  • Strong understanding of B-F culture and Brown-Forman brands
  • Demonstrated knowledge of brand history and the distillery process operation; maturation procedures and a complete understanding of the entire process of making and aging Old Forester, Woodford Reserve and Coopers’ Craft
