Job Purpose: The basic function of a Home Care Aide is to perform tasks such as activities of daily living, and household tasks.
Planning, preparation and clean–up of meals
Giving bed baths or assist with shower or tub bath
Assist with oral care such as brushing teeth or denture care when participant is unable.
Giving assistance to and from the bed to a wheelchair, walker or chair when a participant is weight bearing.
Assisting the participants with ordinarily self-administered medications (open bottles, get water)
Light housekeeping
Laundering clothes and linens;
Making beds and changing sheets;
Shopping for essential items (e.g., groceries, cleaning supplies, etc.);
Advance Personal Care -Assist with Ostomy Care, assist with catheter care, perform bowel programs, administer non-injectable meds, assist with Insulin set-up and perform vital signs and weights
Skills/Education:
Must be 18 years of age
A minimum of one year experience of direct patient care with either a Skilled Nursing facility or an In-Home Care Agency in preferred.
Must also be able to help assist the patient with walking through use of a cane, walker or gait belt throughout the facility or client’s home.
