Oak Ridge Waste and Recycling is looking for a experienced Heavy Equipment Excavator Operator for it's Danbury, CT facility. Monday thru Friday 1st shift available, and some weekend availability is needed. 6AM to 4PM. Because this is an OSHA "Safety Sensitive" position, all potential candidates are required to be able to pass a FULL drug screen (marijuana / THC included). Heavy Equipment Operator Job Summary
We have an immediate opening for a Heavy Equipment Excavator Operator. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience operating a large Excavator, and at least one year experience operating a variety of heavy equipment, including dozers, front loaders, mini excavators, wheel loaders, and cranes. You will be responsible for inspecting trucks before and after you use them, load and unload cargo and waste, and move large pallets of inventory from one area to another. When necessary, you will also perform routine maintenance on the machines or recommend they be sent out for repairs. All equipment operators must follow company and governmental safety guidelines at all times.
Heavy Equipment Operator Duties and Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company's operating safety policies and procedures.
Provide recommendations for maintaining and improving environmental performance.
Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers.
Ensure company equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner. Collect and dispose of scrap, excess materials, and refuse.
Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation.
Inspect large equipment before and after use to ensure they are working properly
Load and unload cargo / waste and refuse and move them to the appropriate storage area
Follow all safety procedures while operating equipment
Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs when necessary
Report needs for larger repairs to the appropriate parties
Heavy Equipment Operator Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Licensed to use Heavy Equipment
1+ years of experience working with heavy equipment
Possession of a commercial driver's license (CDL) or a willingness to obtain the license
Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards
Strong work ethic and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds
Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company's operating safety policies and procedures.
