Health and Wellness Director

The YMCA of Grays Harbor is seeking a Health and Wellness Director to join their team to promote healthy living in and around the community

Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Health and Wellness Director at the YMCA of Grays Harbor oversees the development and operations of the Health and Wellness department and programs, such as healthy living, and/or other programs and designs practices, processes, and procedures for a strong program and project management.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation, or equivalent experience
· YMCA Team Leader certification preferred
· One to two years related experience preferred
· Minimum age of 21
· Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention trainings, CPR/First Aid/AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training
· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

Essential Functions

Directs and manages the development, operations, and growth of the Health and Wellness Department which includes, but not limited to, the overall member experience on their health and wellness journey to include group exercise, personal training and small group training, chronic disease prevention initiatives, and adult sports.
Director Duties & Qualifications

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology
Experience in health and wellness program development and management, as well as and group

exercise programming

Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Budget management and financial analysis skills
Provides leadership and support for the annual fundraising campaign and other volunteer committees
Represents the YMCA in the community through outreach and participation in health and wellness events
Ensures adherence to all association standards, safety procedures, and HR policies
Maintains accurate records and documentation for training, program evaluation, and budgeting
Models relationship-building skills in all interactions and maintains regular, clear, and concise

Communication and leads with empathy
Group Exercise

Develops, manages, and directs group exercise programming, including water and land classes
Recruits and trains group exercise instructors to maintain a high-quality and innovative schedule
Ensures accurate scheduling and timely class coverage, and subs classes as needed
Promotes, monitors, and evaluates group exercise classes, program effectiveness, and participant engagement

Personal Training/Small Group Training

Creates, develops, and maintains personal training programs that meet or exceed revenue goals
Works with Personal Trainers to ensure staff regularly help members achieve their goals in a non-competitive, non-intimidating manner
Recruits Personal Trainers to offer a variety of personal trainers, availability, and programs for our members and their individual goals
Maintains personal trainer certifications and ensures all certifications are current and renewed on time

Health & Wellness Center

Oversees the overall operation and growth of the Health and Wellness Center, Fit Center, and Aerobics Room
Ensures the safety and well-maintained facilities and equipment, including working closely with Building &

Maintenance Department on repairs, projects, and equipment purchases

Manages the Health and Wellness budget and compiles program statistics
Recruits, hires, and develops staff and volunteers and supervises staff to ensure they are delivering

high-quality service to members, developing relationships, and helping members achieve goals

Creates consistent staff schedules and ensures shifts are covered
Models relationship-building skills and maintains collaborative community partnerships

Chronic Disease Prevention

Creates and implements evidence-based chronic disease prevention programs
Trains and hires staff to lead and promote these programs
Maintains integrity and privacy as required and outlined in each program and follows program guidelines
Collaborates with community partners for referrals, support, and program promotion

Adult Sports & Programming

Responsible for providing adult sports programming and overseeing adult sports areas and equipment
Develops and implements new adult sports programs and special events; including trips and excursions, that are aligned with the YMCA’s strategic plan and changing community needs
Creates, develops, and maintains innovative programs that encompass in person, virtual, and/or

out of the box ideas to attract and retain members
