Job Summary
Oversees and coordinates customer service, merchandising, inventory control, and other related activities for a small gift shop located in the White River Medical Center. Schedules, leads, and oversees the day-to-day activities of Volunteer Service Associates and/or other support staff engaged in routine stock management and customer service activities. Provides input into operating budgets and provides leadership in the general marketing of the enterprise.
Job Duties:
Oversees, coordinates, and performs computerized cash register sales transactions and cash management.
Supervise Volunteers which typically includes recommendations of performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
Assists with the development and implementation of operating budgets, policies, and procedures consistent with those of the organization.
Provides sales coordination and problem resolution for floor volunteer service staff; performs direct sales and customer service as and when required.
Allocates and schedules work within the area, ensuring that all floor requirements are covered during operating hours; fills in for volunteers as required during breaks and other absences.
Monitors sales through the cash register; resolves discrepancies, prepares, reconciles, and records cash receipts for deposit, and prepares sales reports.
Monitors and coordinates ordering, receipt, and return of merchandise and/or equipment; verifies invoices and billing and resolves errors and discrepancies; as appropriate, coordinates shipping and/or delivery of merchandise to customers.
Oversees area stock and visual merchandising; participates in the development and implementation of on-floor sales promotion campaigns.
Participates in the establishment and implementation of general marketing plans and programs for the gift shop.
Monitors general housekeeping cleanliness within the area; ensures that equipment and facilities remain in good repair, and that employee and customer safety standards are maintained.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
Develop and maintain the online ordering for the gift shop.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED
Training and Experience: at least two years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Job Knowledge:
Cash management principles and/or procedures.
Mathematics
Customer service standards and procedures.
Retail stock management and control principles and procedures.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Analyze and solve problems.
Read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Summarize and reconcile retail sales and operating statistics, and to prepare routine statistical reports.
Supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignment.
Operate a computerized cash register.

Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol.
Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.
Physical Demands:
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Must be able to bend, twist, pull and push, and utilize a stepladder.
Must be able to unload and unbox and place merchandise.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
