Food Service - Journey


The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Food Service Journey at the Anchorage Correctional Complex (ACC) located in Anchorage, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing
Under the general supervision of the Food Service Foreman, assists in the direction of a prisoner work crew who will prepare and serve meals for approximately 950 prisoners three times daily at the Anchorage Correctional Center (ACC) in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.

Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with:
  • Knowledge in the practice, methods and procedures of volume food preparation, cooking times and serving temperatures
  • Knowledge in food handling, storage and rotation techniques, to avoid cross contamination and recognize critical control points
  • Knowledge in regular or modified diets/menus, content and limitations
  • Ability to use dietary instructional manuals
  • Ability to plan and prepare meals for transport to inmate housing mods
  • Knowledge of kitchen machinery, tools, equipment etc…
  • Ability to follow institutional Policies and Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Adhere to Security Guidelines set forth by the Institution

PREA NOTIFICATION
The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including, but not limited to, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
