Job Purpose Responsible for managing an established book of business and prospecting, soliciting, quoting and selling new Commercial/Personal Lines/Life and Benefits accounts. Counsels and markets to existing clients. Meets service and sales goals as set by management. Assures that accounts meet agency and company profitability goals. Tasks
Call on policyholders to deliver and explain policy, to analyze insurance program and suggest additions or changes, or to change beneficiaries.
Seek out new clients and develop clientele by networking to find new customers and generate lists of prospective clients.
Customize insurance programs to suit individual customers, often covering a variety of risks.
Explain features, advantages, and disadvantages of various policies to promote sale of insurance plans.
Perform administrative tasks, such as maintaining records and handling policy renewals.
Select company that offers type of coverage requested by client to underwrite policy.
Develop marketing strategies to compete with other individuals or companies who sell insurance.
Contact underwriter and submit forms to obtain binder coverage.
Confer with clients to obtain and provide information when claims are made on a policy.
Job Description
Monitor insurance claims to ensure they are settled equitably for both the client and the insurer.
Develops, follows, and achieves sales objectives.
Identifies and develops insurance prospects and appropriate markets.
Responds to referrals quickly and effectively.
Prequalifies insurance prospects for insurability and quality of risk.
Creates and maintains client and prospect lists.
Designs insurance plans and recommends coverages to clients.
Creates letters and postcards to clients offering coverage, shares information and advice regarding insurance matters.
Completes and submits applications and related documentation to appropriate insurance markets.
Surveys loss exposures needs and possible uninsurable or difficult to insure exposures for clients.
Creates insurance proposals, makes sales presentations to prospective and existing clients on new and renewal business.
Prepares, requests, and delivers binders to insureds.
Educates clients concerning agency payment expectations and cancellation procedures.
Collects premium deposits from insureds for purchases of new and upgraded coverages and obtains signatures on all applications and related forms from insureds.
Informs insureds of coverage limitations and binding restrictions and documents files to reduce the agency’s exposure to errors and omissions claims.
Documents recommended coverages not taken to reduce the agency’s exposure to errors and omissions claims.
Asks for referrals from insureds to generate new sales opportunities.
Explains coverages and exclusions and documents explanations in file for future reference.
Works with clients to ensure limit and coverage adequacy.
Maintains complete and thorough documentation of client files.
Develops a book of business that is profitable for both the agency and carriers.
Provides needed information and clarifications about clients to company personnel.
In cooperation with CSRs, reviews existing policy coverage at least annually, upgrading and remarketing accounts as necessary.
Collects client information in the preparation of schedules of insurance, summaries, and renewal proposals.
Uses each client contact as an opportunity for coverage review and discussion of needed coverage.
Recommends and helps insureds carry out loss control programs, independently and in conjunction with company loss control representatives.
Contacts insured to collect past due premiums and audit adjustments.
Retains assigned percentage of accounts at each renewal.
Continues to develop ongoing relationships with insureds.
Accepts and handles any accounts, duties or prospects assigned by agency management.
Participates in sales meetings and other agency activities.
Identifies training needs with assistance from agency management. Assumes responsibility for improving sales and technical skills.
Maintains working knowledge of rating programs, technical manuals and insurance product information from carriers, vendors, and other related sources.
