Position Description
The Estimator will be responsible for assessing project costs, preparing estimates, and supporting the bidding process for various construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Estimate complex and large-scale jobs, including conceptual estimates, negotiated bids, budgets, general conditions, systems studies and comparisons, value engineering, subcontractor relations and staying up-to-date on industry developments applicable to estimating.
- Assist preconstruction with constructability and document reviews, prepare quantity take-offs, and participate in business development activities, presentations and interviews.
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
- Maintain detailed records of estimates, bids, and contract changes.
- Prepare reports and presentations as required for management and stakeholders.
- Participate in meetings to discuss project costs, estimates and potential challenges.
- Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality materials.
- Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
- Highly developed sense of professional ethics.
- Ability to work on a team as well as independently.
- Ability to contribute to the improvement of processes and creation of work efficiency.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to identify project risks and plan/take action as needed.
- BS or MS in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field.
- 5+ years’ experience in the construction estimating field.
- Proficient in specialized estimating software.
- Strong experience in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of construction processes, materials, and methodologies.
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
