Hight Construction, LLC of Minot, ND is seeking a commercial chief project estimator for full-time, long-term commitment. As a Chief Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for a variety of construction projects. We are looking for a motivated problem-solver and confident decision-maker with at least 10 years of commercial construction estimating/project manager experience; a person who will take charge of the entire project and own responsibility for its future success or failure in the field. And willingness to relocate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Attend pre-bid meetings and interpret/analyze construction plans
Provide quantity surveys from which to determine material and labor costs
Develop comprehensive budgets and conceptual estimates when needed
Identify all necessary materials, labor, and equipment required for the project
Conduct thorough research to obtain accurate pricing for materials, labor, and subcontractor services
Prepare detailed cost estimates, including line-item breakdowns, for all aspects of the construction project
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to refine and finalize cost estimates
Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations to improve project profitability
Maintain a comprehensive database of historical cost data and industry trends to enhance the accuracy of future estimates
Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals, ensuring they are competitive and aligned with the project requirements
Provide support and guidance to junior estimators, sharing your expertise and mentoring them as needed
Proactively identify and vet potential bid opportunities, particularly in the public sector. This involves closely monitoring construction project announcements, bid lists, and other public sources to stay informed about upcoming projects that align with Hight Construction capabilities and expertise
Prepare comprehensive, written proposals and promotional material
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 8-10 years of experience as a Construction Estimator, with a proven track record of successful projects
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential cost risks
Strong mathematical and budgeting skills, with a keen eye for detail
Proficient in using construction estimating software and spreadsheet applications
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards
Must have valid driver’s license; some (minor) travel may be required
