SUMMARY: Under general supervision will perform custodial maintenance duties, including but not limited to dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms. During winter months will be requested to assist with district snow removal.
ESSENTIAL DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels; for positions within on-campus residence halls, responsible for reporting concerns related to on-campus residents.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and may answer basic questions. May report issues with vendors to supervisor.
May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to read and write English
Perform mathematical calculations as required for the job
Respond to requests and inquiries from building administrators
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Ability to secure required District and State certifications or licenses as requested
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:Minimum High School Diploma, GED, or One (1) year related work experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret job related materials to perform the required duties
Ability to communicate logically and coherently with co-workers, staff and District personnel
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Apply basic mathematical concepts to perform required job functions
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions as related to the job duties

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit, walk and stand; have manual and finger dexterity; stoop, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb stairs, heights and ladders. The employee is occasionally required to crawl, reach above shoulder level, crouch, kneel, balance, push/pull, and carry. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds with the assistance of another person or appropriate equipment.
