Description:
Position Purpose: The Nurse Manager at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center oversees the Cardiac and Med-Surg Intensive Care Units. These ICUs care for patients with cardiothoracic, vascular, and trauma-related conditions, providing valuable knowledge and a broad skill set for nurses. With unit leadership support and strong practice councils, nurses develop confidence and competence in clinical skills and critical thinking.
Responsibilities: In this critical role, you will lead strong, interdisciplinary teams comprised of nursing and nursing support.
Manage unit operations and daily flow, ensuring quality and cost-effective service.
Serve as a role model for service excellence, setting clear expectations and mentoring colleagues.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nursing education, physician assistants, and cardiothoracic and trauma surgeons.
Participate in department goal-setting and ensure alignment with the hospital’s mission.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Nursing is required.
Registered Nurse RN Licensure: Current Connecticut Registered Nurse licensure is required.
Experience: 3 or more years of progressive nursing management experience in a Critical Care setting is required with progressive leadership opportunities. 5 or more years of a combination of Critical Care experience between clinical nursing and management is strongly preferred.
BLS or CPR certification: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross will be accepted.
