Why does the job exist?
The purpose of this position is to serve as a phone customer service agent and to assist customers with business transactions that are under the administrative office. This position requires working knowledge of several statutes, acts, rules, and regulations administered by the office. This position gathers information from customers as to their business needs, conveys to them the requirements for the customer to comply with business rules and regulations. Customer service can be challenging, and the position is expected to provide professional, accurate and courteous service.
How does it get done?
Provides customer service to all phone customers, providing support and answering questions about business transactions under the administration of the office, and providing guidance for online filings. Serves on the mail processing team, opening, sorting and distribution of mail to be processed; routing to the appropriate processors. Receipts payments received with documents mailed for processing; this requires knowledge of the business transactions to ensure the requirements of the submission are met according to statute and rule, including the payment; and to apply payment to the correct prepaid account. Provides walk in customer service coverage as necessary.

Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalency and one (1) year of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, andor contract compliance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field andor direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive phone and personal computer usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required. Direct client interaction and some statewide travel may be required.
