The Communications Specialist is responsible for development, design, and implementation of content related to AHCH’s external communications projects. This position supports the communications work of the organization, with a focus on maintaining design and brand consistency and ensuring alignment with organization strategies and goals. The Communications Specialist works in close partnership with a broad range of staff to meet the organization’s external communications needs. In collaboration with the Chief Strategy Officer, this position maintains the tools, processes, and systems needed for effective communications work and supports the evaluation of goals and outcomes for the program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Researches, writes, edits, and produces content for Fund Development, Public Policy, and other organizational initiatives
Develops compelling, high-quality print and digital content for a wide variety of audiences and events. Content includes, but is not limited to newsletters, website articles, interviews, emails, social media, and traditional media
Designs templates, graphics, and layout for a range of print pieces and digital platforms
Ensures brand and organization messaging consistency across all platforms
Collaborates with the Chief Strategy Officer in tracking and evaluating the communications program metrics and performance
Develops and executes a schedule and content calendar to maintain and improve the organization’s website and social media accounts
Contributes to articles, newsletters, and helps to keep the community apprised of key initiatives and activities
In close collaboration with the Fund Development Team, contributes to and edits engaging and persuasive cultivation, solicitation and stewardship materials, including multi-channel appeals, major gifts materials, and events collateral
Collaborates with other AHCH programs and outside vendors to ensure branding continuity
Comply with all AHCH policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of experience in professional communications in a corporate or nonprofit setting preferably in health care, human services, community development, or related area
Work with content management systems, preferably Word Press
Demonstrated experience writing for the web and social media, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Linked In
Experience with design, print, and video production
Proficiency with one of the following: Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, In Design, Illustrator, or Canva
High level of organization, attention to detail, and adherence to deadlines
Exceptional communication skills
Ability to work in a collaborative manner with all levels of organizational staff
Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment
Excellent skills in delegation and decision-making
High capacity for analyzing communication needs/gaps and implementing solutions
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in video management or production
Previous experience working on behalf of underserved populations
Bilingual - Spanish/English
Master’s degree in communications or other relevant degree
5 years of experience in a communications role
