Brooding House Worker
Schedule: Monday through Friday
Hours: 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs

Priority consideration will be provided to internal applicants first. Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.
Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
Starting wage - $16.00/hour

Position Summary
This position is responsible for the daily activities and upkeep of the Import 2 facility. Other duties may be assigned and/or change during any trial.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Grading eggs which consist of observing shell color and texture, external characteristics such as size of yolk and size of egg. Places eggs on flats or into buggies. Uses light source to candle egg. Place broken, dirty or substandard eggs in container. (5%)
  • Maintain farm upkeep: weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual tasks. (10%)
  • Process/vaccinate birds. (10%)
  • Feeds and waters birds in accordance to schedule. Walks floors daily to examine birds for signs of illness or injury and treats according to instructions; pick up and dispose of mortality. Places pen partitions according to instructions. (25%)
  • Collect data, which includes but is not limited to the following duties: weighing birds and/or feed and recording data with pen/paper and/or tablet; segregate birds according to line and sex as instructed. (25%)
  • Remove used litter from houses; clean & disinfect poultry houses & all equipment; assist with bird movements as needed; place new shavings in poultry houses; brush hog, mow or weed eat around poultry houses. (25%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:
  • The jobsite is a bio-secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.
  • Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Will occasionally lift and/or move, using two Team Members, up to 80 pounds to move items such as bird coops. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift on multiple floor surfaces (concrete floor, shavings); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop/bend repeatedly; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Tools and Equipment: Requires use of hand tools such as box knives wire cutters, pliers, wrenches, broom, squeegee, shovel, counter, vaccination gun, stick needle, eye drop bottle, animal tag pliers; power tools such as cordless drill, gas powered back-pack blower; equipment such as dump truck, skid-steer, tractor, trailer with gas-powered sprayer, pallet jack, lawn mower and weed-eater, catch-frames, scales, tables, scanners, extension cords, coops; safe operation of vehicle to and from work area.
  • Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety Glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, rain suit and farm issued footwear are required. Ear plugs and safety glasses will be used as required.
  • Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Virocid, Lysol, Bleach, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, Green Clean, insecticides, herbicides, rodenticides, formaldehyde, etc.
Safety:
  • TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • TM is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
Other duties, responsibilities, and activities
These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice such as: clean break room and restrooms; sanitize vehicle; sanitation of boot rooms and equipment; placing or rodent and other baits around buildings to control pest populations; properly euthanize sick or injured chicks/birds in accordance with company policy.
