About the Head of Sustainability Performance Role
At JLL, we are driving sustainability through everything that we do, across all service lines and job positions. Specifically, we are growing our Sustainability practice to drive end-to-end sustainability solutions in real estate across lifecycle.
On behalf of a major investor client, we are looking are looking to appoint a forward-thinking ESG Leader to lead Sustainability Performance for one of their iconic landmark buildings in Europe / City of London. As part of the JLL Sustainable Operations team you will lead the ‘the building team’ in pursuit of the client ESG objectives and ambition to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2030.
You will work directly with ‘the client and building team to lead on their ESG programme management and coordination needs. You will be a senior member of the JLL Sustainable Operations Team with a deep knowledge of the needs of our clients’ programmes, and an expert in building performance and programme management.
The Head of Sustainable Performance will act as an accelerator and collaborator to support sustainability service needs within the client team and occupier community within the building. You will maximise, manage, and maintain engagement across all asset and sustainability activity to reach the client goals within their ESG and NZC programme.
What this involves
Being instrumental in implementing and optimizing new sustainability programmes in direct collaboration with the client and JLL team sustainability team.
Focusing on communication and innovation across client, internal JLL and third-party service provider teams and client teams to integrate feedback, remove roadblocks and leverage opportunities.
Bringing applicable tools whether third party or in-house JLL and processes to sustainability problem solving.
Understanding of the implementation of sustainability across the life cycle of commercial real estate, including critical stakeholder roles, strategic decision-making and how to leverage data tracking and monitoring.
Advising the client team on opportunities to support larger programmatic elements.
Key responsibilities include
To develop a clear roadmap for optimisation, demand reduction and decarbonisation, supported by ESG strategies that bring the best in technology and innovation with dependable technical execution.
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of all sustainability activities throughout the building.
Contribute to the client responsible property investment strategy and drive the delivery of key objectives.
Providing strategic direction and guidance on ways to enhance and expand service delivery to the client, including leveraging supply chain partners, internal collaborations and the broader Energy and Sustainability service providers.
Establish strong working relationships with the JLL management teams, Contract Directors, Client Relationship Directors and serve as the point of contact and advice for all sustainability related matters Collaborating with other JLL service lines on the account (Real Estate, Finance, Projects, FM, and procurement) to deliver an integrated energy and sustainability solution to the client and JLL team.
Effectively tracking and communicating success stories to ensure a high level of awareness and engagement is achieved regarding the overall energy and sustainability programme.
Demonstrating innovative thinking and proactive management in bringing new ideas and solutions to the client, and ensuring they are rolled out effectively.
Develop and enhance systems and processes for delivering best practice sustainability performance and use of utility/sustainability management systems for monitoring and/or reporting purposes.

University Degree (environment, sustainability, science, engineering, or related fields)
Ideally 8 years’ experience in managing and delivering sustainability related services to real estate clients.
A sustainability related qualification and a deep understanding of sustainability issues relevant to real estate.
Passionate about working towards a sustainable future.
An excellent understanding of the key sustainability issues within real estate including, but not limited to; decarbonization, embodied carbon, circularity, resource preservation, biodiversity, climate risk, health & wellbeing, and social value creation.
Experience working with corporate clients, commercial property, property managers and an understanding of the landlord and tenant relationship is desirable.
Excellent ability to build relationships with clients and their internal teams.
A strong track record integrating sustainability into organizations’ operations.
Experience working in a collaborative way with clients and other stakeholders to develop ambitious and robust sustainability programmes.
Proven project management experience and excellent communication skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in written and numeric work.
Ability to obtain buy-in and engagement from employees at all levels.
