Care Assistant (Male Only)

We are holding a Fife Council jobs fair on the 30th of October from 10am - 2pm at the Glen Pavilion, Dunfermline. We will be on hand to talk about the vacancies we have on offer and what it's like to work with the council. Salary: FC4 £24,890.91 - £27,087.17 (Pro-Rata) plus enhancements for unsocial hours and sleepovers
Working Pattern: Between 20 and 36 hours per week
Location: Dunfermline, Glenrothes or Levenmouth

Job Details
Supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health disorders within their own homes and to access the local community.
This role includes day shifts, late shifts, sleepovers and nightshifts and weekend working all applicants must be able to do all shift patterns. This may be in a shared tenancy or single tenancy; successful applicants will be expected lone work at times.
Successful applicants will be provided with all necessary training such as Moving and Handling, CALM, ESCAPES, Dysphagia etc.
Auto enrolment onto the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
32 annual leave days rising to 37 days after 5 years.

The Person
Must have, or be willing to achieve in the first period of registration, the Social Services and Healthcare SCQF level 6 (equivalent to SVQ2) or equivalent to meet Scottish Social Services Council registration.
Communication skills, organisational skills, ability to manage and prioritise workload, ability to work with minimal supervision, team working skills, literacy skills, basic IT skills.
Ability to provide support to individuals with personal care needs, moving & handling, ability to undertake physical tasks e.g. being able to comfortably kneel on beds and floors and able to rise without difficulty.
You are required to register with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of taking up employment in this role and to complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) over the first registration period. Fife Council will pay your annual registration fee.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.
If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months. More details are included in the role profile.
Because of the nature of the duties of this post, it is an occupational requirement that the post holder be male, and the post is therefore exempt from the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 in terms of Schedule 9, Part 1, Paragraph 1 of that Act.
