Mechanical Technician x1 (12 Months Fixed Term Contract)
Job Advert Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for the assisting the Section Engineer on the following work: Preventative Maintenance, ad-hoc Maintenance (Inspections, Installations, and Test & Commissioning), and Project Technical Coordination to meet the specified standards. Reporting problems to the Section Engineer.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 and S4 or N6 in Mechanical Engineering.
A National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be advantageous
Fitter and turner trade test certificate
3 years’ relevant work experience within a similar environment
Code 10 driver’s license.
Knowledge of OSHA and safe working procedures
Primary Duties
Inspections on the Mechanical Equipment i.e., gearboxes, pumps, valves, lifting equipment and Manual screens etc.
Preventative Maintenance and fault finding on the Mechanical Equipment’s including lifting equipment’s.
Assisting on Breakdowns and ad-hoc work.
Installing, Testing, Commissioning and Monitoring of Mechanical equipment’s
Compile Inspection, Assessment, and Maintenance Report
Assist on ensuring that health and safety adhere to it.
Assist with maintenance planning and scheduling
Knowledge
Mechanical Equipment’s Maintenance
Safety knowledge (OHSA and regulations)
Basic understanding of Water and Sanitation Infrastructure i.e., Pipeline network, Pump Stations, and Treatment Works Plants.
Basic understanding of Mechanical Equipment’s such as valves, pressure, gearbox’s, Screens, and flow principles.
Knowledge of welding.
Skills
Ability to conduct Mechanical repairs.
Mechanical Troubleshooting.
Ability to Interpret and design PFD and P&ID diagrams.
Good communication skills (verbal).
Ability to compile maintenance and assessment report.
Good housekeeping skills.
Able to work under pressure.
