Collaborate with the Fitter and Engineering Manager to perform repairs and maintenance tasks within the production area.
Assist with ongoing preventative maintenance activities as outlined in the Maintenance Schedule.
Conduct checks throughout the production plant, including silos, batching plant, milling and mixing equipment, extruder, dryer, coating machinery, cooler, packaging lines, stitching and sealing stations, etc.
Perform routine inspections of components such as chains, bearings, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, V-Belts, augers, shafts, hydraulic arms, sprockets, control valves, and pistons.
Inspect buckets (e.g., Nerak buckets) and holding bins.
Identify and report any leaks (oil, gas, water, fat) promptly to the Mechanical Manager.
Assist with requested repairs under the guidance of the Mechanical Manager.
Workshop Fabrication and Installations:
Support workshop fabrication tasks, including building check weighers, conveyor frames, packing machines, and bins.
Assist with the installation of water pipes and other equipment and machinery.
Adhere to safety protocols and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during workshop activities and installations.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, storing equipment and tools appropriately.
Retrieve necessary consumables from the storeroom for maintenance and repair work.
Safely store tools after performing repairs, maintenance, and installations to prevent safety hazards.
National Senior Certificate (NQF 4) or equivalent
2 years’ proven work experience in an engineering environment
Basic mechanical knowledge and familiarity with maintenance procedures
Strong attention to detail and safety consciousness
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent communication skills
