We are looking for staff, ideally a couple, who are self-motivated and happy to tackle a range of responsibilities, but who are also able to stay motivated and engaged during periods when the lodge is quiet.

Of the couple, ideally one person would be a guide and the other person someone who would be happy with lodge-based duties such as front-of-house and guest liaison.

(This is not cast in stone, for instance we would consider candidates where both were guides).

For the guide, we are looking for someone who is an excellent, experienced guide, who is keen, enthusiastic, personable, well spoken, presentable and dedicated to conservation and education, as well as being able to turn their hand to a little basic maintenance, some admin and some hosting duties.

The candidate would ideally need to be fully qualified to take walks as a lead rifle, but a back-up trails guide qualification would be considered.

The responsibilities would be typical guiding duties such as game drives, game walks, all game and environmental activities.

Ideally, the candidate would also be able to turn their hand to:

Some general lodge maintenance and veld management.

Basic vehicle maintenance and after hours emergency standby duties.

Assistance with various managerial duties, hosting duties and general liaison with guests.

Knowledge of blogging, Facebook and Twitter would also be advantageous.

Ideal Guide Qualification requirements:
FGASA Certification and CATHSSETA certificate.

Public Drivers Permit

Valid First Aid Certificate

Firearm Competency Certificate

Advanc ed Rifle Handling Certificate

Lead Trails Guide Qualification or Back-up Trails Guide Qualification

For the Front-of-House candidate, the position would ideally have the following core responsibilities:

Guest Liaison, Hosting meals and banqueting duties.

Supervision of bar staff, waiters and lodge cleaners, including the set-up of, and service at, all meals including service from the kitchen and bar .

Ensuring that all guest areas in the lodge are constantly presentable and ready for guests.

Supervision of housekeepers and ensuring guest suites, Gym and Health and Beauty treatment room are cleaned and prepared to the highest standards.

Curio Shop sales, Curio stock orders and maintaining Curio Shop stock levels.

Bar, Wine Cellar and Curio shop stock control and stock takes.

Assisting with check in and check out of guests and other administration duties.

Essential attributes for this position include an excellent eye for detail, a good knowledge of service skills, a friendly and outgoing personality, a good team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to handle pressure.
