Job Summary: The Welding Quality Control (QC) Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all welding procedures, techniques, and materials meet the quality and safety standards required by Saudi Aramco. The role involves supervising welding activities, inspecting welds, ensuring compliance with standards, and maintaining quality control documentation. The position requires deep expertise in welding procedures and quality assurance in oil and gas, petrochemical, and other related industries. Key Responsibilities:
Welding Inspection and Supervision:
Supervise and inspect all welding activities to ensure compliance with Saudi Aramco standards and project specifications.
Ensure welding procedures (WPS) and welder qualifications (WPQ) are in place and adhere to required codes (ASME, AWS, etc.).
Conduct regular inspections to verify the quality of welds using non-destructive testing (NDT) methods (e.g., radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing).
Quality Control:
Implement and maintain the Quality Control (QC) system for welding processes, ensuring adherence to project quality plans and specifications.
Review welding documentation, procedures, and qualifications to ensure conformity with Aramco standards.
Prepare quality control reports and ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and meets client requirements.
Compliance with Saudi Aramco Standards:
Ensure all welding activities conform to Saudi Aramco’s engineering procedures and standards.
Monitor compliance with applicable industry codes and regulatory requirements.
Coordination and Communication:
Coordinate with project management, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure quality issues are promptly addressed.
Liaise with third-party inspectors, clients, and contractors to ensure the successful implementation of the welding quality control plan.
Provide technical guidance and support to the welding team.
Training and Development:
Train and mentor welders and QC inspectors on the importance of adhering to quality standards and proper welding techniques.
Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements in welding.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
Ensure that all welding activities comply with HSE policies and procedures.
Monitor and enforce safety standards, ensuring that all team members follow proper safety practices when welding.
Key Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 8-10 years of experience in welding quality control, ideally in oil and gas or petrochemical industries, with direct exposure to Saudi Aramco projects.
Certifications:
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent.
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Level II/III certification is highly desirable.
Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of welding standards such as ASME, AWS, API, and ISO.
Familiarity with Saudi Aramco's specific standards and procedures (e.g., SAES, SAMSS).
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, welding symbols, and procedures.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Educational Requirements:
Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
Additional Requirements:
Familiarity with Saudi Aramco SAP systems for quality documentation.
Proven track record of managing quality control in large-scale industrial projects, particularly in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East.
