Senior Estimation Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation & Budgeting:
Develop accurate cost estimates for civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, drainage systems, water supply, sewage, and other infrastructure projects.
Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings.
Provide cost breakdowns of materials, labor, equipment, and other direct and indirect project expenses.
Tender & Proposal Preparation:
Prepare and review tender documents and bids for new infrastructure projects.
Analyze and evaluate contractors' or subcontractors' bids, proposals, and pricing strategies.
Work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and contractors to ensure competitive bidding.
Feasibility Studies & Risk Analysis:
Conduct feasibility studies to assess the cost-effectiveness and financial viability of infrastructure projects.
Identify potential risks and propose strategies to mitigate cost overruns and delays.
Project Cost Monitoring & Control:
Track and monitor ongoing project costs to ensure they stay within budget.
Provide cost forecasts and prepare cash flow projections during various phases of the project.
Adjust estimates as necessary based on project changes or unforeseen conditions.
Collaboration with Project Teams:
Collaborate with design teams, architects, structural engineers, and project managers to ensure cost-effective solutions are integrated into the design phase.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to clarify project scope and requirements.
Data Management & Reporting:
Maintain up-to-date records of all cost-related project data, including change orders and variations.
Prepare periodic reports to management, outlining project cost status, budget variances, and other financial aspects.
Provide post-project cost reports and analysis to help improve future estimates.
Technical Knowledge & Compliance:
Ensure that all estimates comply with industry standards, codes, and local regulations.
Keep up with advancements in construction materials, techniques, and tools to incorporate into the estimating process.
Use estimation software tools such as Auto CAD, Primavera, or specialized estimation programs.

Required Skills:

Technical Expertise:
Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, particularly related to infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
Attention to Detail:
Precision in calculating quantities and cost elements to ensure accurate estimates.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to analyze complex construction data and develop effective cost-control strategies.
Software Proficiency:
Familiarity with industry-standard cost estimation and project management software (MS Excel, Cost , Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Auto CAD).
Communication & Negotiation Skills:

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Knowledge of Construction Materials & Methods:
Stay updated with current market prices for construction materials and labor, and understand construction methodologies.

Awareness of local building codes, construction regulations, and safety standards relevant to civil infrastructure projects.

Qualifications:

Education: A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is essential.
Experience: Typically requires 8 to 10 years of experience in cost estimation, with significant exposure to infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, utilities, and large-scale civil works.
Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional), or other relevant certifications are advantageous.
