Team Supervision: Manage and lead a team of upholsterers, providing direction, training, and support to ensure efficient and high-quality production.
Production Planning: Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to meet deadlines and client demands. Ensure all work is completed on time and within budget.
Quality Control: Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring that upholstery work meets the company's standards for craftsmanship, materials, and aesthetics.
Training & Development: Train staff on new upholstery techniques, equipment, and safety procedures. Identify opportunities for employee development and skill improvement.
Material Management: Oversee the selection, requisition, and inventory of upholstery materials such as fabric, foam, springs, and hardware. Ensure that supplies are available and properly used.
Workflow Optimization: Streamline production processes to maximize efficiency, reduce waste, and improve output. Identify and implement best practices in upholstery.
Collaboration: Work closely with design teams, production managers, and clients to understand product specifications and ensure upholstery work aligns with design concepts and customer expectations.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety regulations in the upholstery workshop, ensuring that all staff follow safety protocols and that equipment is well-maintained.
Problem-Solving: Address production challenges such as material shortages, equipment malfunctions, or staffing issues, ensuring minimal disruption to workflow.
Reporting: Track and report on production metrics such as output, quality, and efficiency. Provide regular updates to senior management.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: Proven experience in upholstery, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of upholstery techniques, materials, and tools. Experience with both modern and traditional upholstery methods is preferred.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate staff and foster a positive, productive work environment.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, ensuring that all upholstery work meets high standards of quality and precision.
Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills for resolving issues related to production, materials, or staffing.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills for interacting with team members, management, and clients, including the ability to explain technical details clearly.
Time Management: Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects and ensure timely completion of work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in upholstery or furniture-making from a recognized institution.
Experience working with custom or high-end furniture.
