Responsible for the planning, selecting, and buying of merchandise for retail establishments. Duties include market research, competitor analysis, product evaluations and testing, monitoring purchase orders and creating reports for the management team. A highly skilled buyer often possesses a strong industry knowledge with the ability to forecast market trends and perform consumer research. C. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Sourcing products here and abroad 2. Analyze and negotiate price proposals and determine reasonable prices in the market. 3. Maintain and review records of items bought, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories. 4. Work out agreements with suppliers' mode of payment, terms, and deliveries. 5. Attend trade shows to learn about new industry trends and make contact with suppliers. 6. Evaluate and monitor contracts to be sure that suppliers comply with the terms and conditions of the contract and to determine the need for changes. 7. Report consolidation- summarize, analyze and coordinate with specified personnel. 8. Canvass Monitoring. 9. Supervise and monitor locally sourced products including consignment under affiliates. 10. Other functions as may be assigned. 11. Be on top of product acquisition from new and existing suppliers. This includes negotiating the price and quantity, overseeing the brand and packaging layout design process, monitoring arrival of stocks and branch allocation.
