We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Officer to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within our manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HSE practices, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
Enforce compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and standards.
Inspect facilities to identify existing or potential health and safety hazards, and recommend corrective or preventive measures.
Maintain HSSE performance reports, including records and statistics.
Conduct internal incident investigations to determine causes and generate HSE reports and statistics.
Represent the company on safety, health, and environmental matters within the terminal.
Liaise with relevant HSE regulatory and certification agencies.
Plan and coordinate HSSE training activities, including orientation and induction training for new employees.
Monitor the safety performance of contractors to ensure adherence to company standards.
Ensure the availability of adequate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Organize and schedule safety drills and emergency preparedness activities.
Supervise security operatives to ensure effective surveillance and prevention of accidents, crime incidents, and property loss.
Maintain effective access control and identification procedures for staff, visitors, and contractors.
Safeguard the physical and material assets of the company and third parties on-site.
Control environmental impacts through pollution prevention and proper waste management, employing best available techniques (BAT).
Assist in implementing project-specific environmental management plans.
Monitor and report on environmental risks associated with company activities.
Provide training and information to enhance awareness of environmental issues and management practices.
Report on environmental performance indicators, including monthly audits, incident rates, training achievements, and objectives.
Promote environmental protection initiatives, such as spill prevention and remediation.
Ensure good housekeeping practices within the mill and premises.
Monitor waste generation and ensure regular disposal by the relevant agent.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or HND in a safety-related field or a science discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of HSSE experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., IOSH, NISP) is preferred.
Certifications in Safety/Risk Management are an added advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point).
Knowledgeable in HSE global best practices and implementation.
