OTHER & FULL TIME

Youth Worker - Mātauranga Māori

Te Wai-O-Pareira.

Think you've got what it takes to empower rangatahi? Come and join Te Whānau o Waipareira to drive a Te Ao Māori wellness programme.

Step into this exciting fulltime opportunity, that will release you from the routine office day and drop you into the heart of the West Auckland community. This role will encompass the planning and facilitation of therapeutic activities, delivered in a kaupapa Māori environment. Demonstrate your outstanding leadership qualities as you inspire groups of rangatahi to latch onto their strengths and chase their own aspirations for success.

If you've got a qualification in Health, Sport, or Fitness, ka pai! If not, don't hold back - we value hard earned experience and the ability to connect with rangatahi. This is the type of mahi where you will roll up your sleeves, bring the energy, and muck in where required.

Your Skills & Experience.

For this role, we're seeking candidates that embody the following competencies:

  • Strong commitment to Te Reo me ōna tikanga.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Holistic understanding of Māori health and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and facilitation.
  • Confident with outdoor activities e.g., swimming, preparing kai.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks.
  • Clean, Full NZ Driver's License essential for local travel.
Mana Motuhake (Our Goal)

Te Whānau o Waipareira is a non-government organisation, operating locally in the heart of West Auckland. We are dedicated to creating generational change for urban Māori, delivering a broad spectrum of services in education, health, and social care.

Waipareiratanga (The Waipareira Way)

Here at the Whānau House, we do our mahi differently. As a new kaimahi, you will be warmly welcomed into a close-knit whānau, with networks spanning across the West Auckland region and beyond. We walk side-by-side with the Māori community, woven into a cross-generational story far bigger than oneself. As kaimahi, we take care of your wellbeing and provide a number of benefits:

  • Fun, supportive, and flexible teamworking environment.
  • Various professional and career development opportunities.
  • Locally based offices, near to public transport and shops.
A Waipareira career is YOUR opportunity to create a difference for whānau Māori!
