About the Role
Te Whānau o Waipareira is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our frontline services team. This role aims to empower whānau where you will engage directly with whānau, advocating with government agencies such as Oranga Tamariki, Police, Ministry of Justice, schools, and other organizations to ensure they receive their entitlements and rights.
You will build trust with whānau through whanaungatanga as it is crucial to connect whānau with timely and appropriate support services, facilitating their desired outcomes. In this full-time role, you will leverage our Te Whānau o Waipareira approach, where you will be cultivating extensive community networks and using your knowledge of the Whānau Ora approach to use the support services available.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Foster meaningful connections and relationships with whānau, community members, and stakeholders built on trust and mutual accountability.
Apply the principles of Whānau Ora in all aspects of your work.
Identify opportunities for whānau to access appropriate support services and resources.
Collaborate with whānau to develop comprehensive plans and goals.
Advocate for whānau within government agencies, schools, and other organizations.
Uphold cultural protocols, respect spiritual beliefs, and ensure the wellbeing of whānau members.
Skills and Experience
Strong commitment to Te Reo me ōna tikanga.
Minimum of two years experience providing whānau centred support.
Social work qualification recognised by the SWRB.
A valid NZ driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
Strong and genuine commitment to strengths-based practice.
Familiarity with Whānau Ora principles and the outcomes framework.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build and maintain strong, trusting relationships.
Proficiency using relevant software/systems for case management.
