The Opportunity
Due to our ongoing growth within the Traffic Management Department, we are looking for Traffic Controllers & STMS staff to join our team. You will assist with the implementation and supervision of temporary traffic management on various State Highway worksites. You will be working with the public, whether it’s pedestrians, cyclists or vehicle to guide them through our different types of closures.
Training and qualifications provided – We will support you with all required training to be successful in this position and to become a qualified Traffic Management Operative.
On a day-to-day basis, you will work under the direction of our STMS to:
- Set up worksites; put signs and cones out
- Operate Stop/Go paddles or manually controlled portable traffic signals
- Assist with specialist activities when required, such as event management
- Direct traffic flow
- Communicate with our team via radio transmitters

- A full class 1 drivers license is required, class 2 is favourable-we can also help you with that
- Be willing to undergo on-the-job training to gain experience and progression
- A good attitude and enjoying work outdoors

- Good level of physical fitness
- Great work ethics and punctuality
In your STMS role you will be responsible for:
- Setting up and removing traffic sites following TTM Plans
- Lead your crew while working on TTM sites
- Complete required site and STMS paperwork and reports
- Ensuring the health and safety of you, your team and the public
What you’ll bring to the table
- STMS qualification
- Full class 1 drivers’ licence, class 2 is favourable – we can also help you with that
- Confident with basic technology (smartphone/tablet)
- Good level of attention to detail to ensure accurate TM setups
- Excellent communication skills
- Proactive around Health & Safety
