ABOUT THE ROLE
Ventia’s new 7-year Hauraki Road Maintenance Contract is in charge for all maintenance and repairs on 630kms of the local roads for the Hauraki District Council and Waikato Region.
This role will sit within our Transport team based in Paeroa. You will be part of a strong and stable team responsible for providing traffic management as per the relevant code, ensuring that all legal and contractual requirements are met. You will be responsible for running the traffic management crew, maintaining the sites and crew as well as delivering timeframes.

Your hours of work will be from Monday to Friday, 7.00am – 4.00pm with the opportunity to finish early on the Friday. Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safe temporary traffic control on each work site and emergency work site assigned. This could include site set-outs, pilot vehicle operation and Stop/Go control
- Ensure all relevant documentation/approvals are current prior to leaving depot and ensuring all traffic management check sheets are completed as per the TMP
- Document any changes that may be required onsite and communicate this to the Traffic Foreman or Supervisor ASAP
- Checking to ensure the correct equipment as available for the TMP prior to leaving the yard, and then returned in full at the completion of each task, ensuring it is properly stored and maintained
- Provide support and guidance for trainees and Traffic Controllers
- Record and notify the Traffic Foreman or Supervisor as appropriate of all crashes/incidents/complaints at worksite
- General Civil labouring duties
This is a full -time, permanent role with a minimum 40 hours a week work guaranteed. Hourly rate will be from 29.66 to 32/hr and will be based in Paeroa, working across the Thames-Coromandel region.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in road maintenance preferred
- Demonstrated safety mindset
Education and qualifications:
- Class 1 NZ Drivers Licence
- Class 2 NZ Drivers Licence preferred
- Relevant Temporary Traffic Management qualification (minimum STMS Qualification Level 1/Cat AB)
