- Present research and act as a discussant at academic conferences
in area of research focus.
Teaching / Supervision • Coordinate and teach in postgraduate and undergraduate nursing
courses as required by the Head of School or delegated authority.
- Examine student work, and supervise teaching and marking
undertaken by tutors, assistant lecturers or external personnel.
- Design and maintain study materials relevant to the programme
using a blended approach to delivery, including online courses.
- Undertake student evaluations required by the School or University.
- Ensure all teaching is informed by research and delivered in an
appropriate manner.
- Actively maintain professional relationships with students, the
teaching team and relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain teaching expertise through engagement in
professional development opportunities.
- Respond to stakeholder needs for clinically focused education, such
as professional development courses in nursing and health.
Service Service to the Community
- Participate in community service activities that further advance the
profession or field consistent with the University’s charter and
strategic goals.
- Assist the School to develop and strengthen relationships with
professional and stakeholder communities as appropriate.
- Contribute to the broader community and society through the
University’s obligations under the Education Act to fulfil “the role as
critic and conscience of society”.
- Assist the School/University to develop an environment which gives
effect to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
University Responsibilities
- Serve on University and/or School committees.
- Observe University policy and codes of practice in all teaching,
research, community service and administrative practices.
- Contribute to the development of a School environment that values
teamwork, cooperation and collegiality.
- Contribute to the administration of the School.
- Take responsibility for professional self-improvement and
development.
- Undertake other duties as may be assigned.
- The employment setting will involve work with people across the
lifespan, including under 17 year olds. Consequently, a safety check
is required by applicants applying for this position and this includes
a police vet.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications: • A completed Ph D in nursing or a related discipline (essential).
- A teaching qualification (desirable).
