Port Marlborough NZ Ltd – Board of Directors Vacancy
As a result of the retirement of a current board member, expressions of interest are sought for a position on the Board of Port Marlborough NZ Ltd.
Port Marlborough’s vision is to be an environmentally restorative port, driving success for Marlborough. This is achieved through their sustainability strategy that measures success to the region across pillars of people, planet, prosperity and partnerships.
Port Marlborough plays a key role in Marlborough’s economy, facilitating growth of some of the Region’s most significant and emerging industries including tourism, forestry, wine, fishing and aquaculture.
Port Marlborough has four primary spheres of operation, providing:
- the South Island terminal for inter-island passenger and freight ferries at Picton;
- NZ’s deepest export berth and a second multipurpose berth means that the port can cater not only for all freight movements, but also the world’s largest class of cruise vessel;
- The largest marina operator in NZ, accommodating over 2,000 vessels in Picton, Havelock and Waikawa Marinas in wet and dry storage
- substantial property holdings that offer development potential in support of integrated investments
The port is embarking on an extensive period of infrastructure renewal and upgrade as they prepare for the introduction of new Interislander ferries.
The shareholder, MDC Holdings Ltd, is seeking directors who can add diversity to the Board and offer:
- demonstrated corporate governance skills;
- an affinity with the Marlborough District;
- experience in port and marina operations, supply chain and marine fields;
- extensive practical commercial, financial and/or organisational management experience;
- well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills, particularly in relation to Iwi partnerships;
- an engineering background, particularly on major infrastructure projects, may also be an advantage;
- a desire to work within a collegial and professional environment, with significant challenges and opportunities ahead for the organisation, and
- an awareness of and connection with the Marlborough business community would be desirable.
The term of the appointment is three years, with possible extension to a total of six years, from the company’s December Annual General Meeting.
Applications will close on 30 September 2024.
