What will you be doing? Reporting to the Platform Engineering Manager, this role as part of the Platform Engineering team will support our journey to a more inclusive SRE/Dev Ops culture at Tower. You can expect to be across the following:
Perform operational support and management of our Azure Cloud Platform and associated observability capabilities.
Operational support and management of VMs running Windows and Linux operating systems
Manage Azure resources with Terraform Cloud - including cost optimisation, right-sizing, tagging.
Create, extend, and troubleshoot build, release, and deployment pipelines.
Configuration management as code via Ansible.
Support technology teams to deploy application specific updates.
Provide technical direction and advice for Azure cloud services.
Write documentation around new processes and standard operating procedures.
Share expertise and knowledge across technical teams, contribute to team strategy.
Apply a rational and reasoned approach to problem solving to produce viable solutions.
Ensure tooling and frameworks are fit for purpose, efficient, scalable, and maintainable and are applicable to Tower's Cloud strategy.
Ensure that automation assets and processes are sharable across teams to enable re-use and standardization.
Help us to bring a more unified SRE/Dev Ops culture to the Engineering teams at Tower.
What you'll need To be successful in this role, you will also be able to demonstrate the following:
Real world IT infrastructure operational experience with recent active experience in public cloud domains.
Practical and current experience working in a SRE/Platform Engineering environment.
Able to operate independently and work collaboratively with colleagues across all teams.
Sound knowledge and experience of Microsoft Azures cloud platform and services.
Understand concepts of identity management and role-based access control.
Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Kubernetes, Jenkins & Groovy.
Real world familiarity with Power Shell, MSSQL, SQL Clusters and Windows Server.
Experience with configuring and maintaining monitoring & alerting for infrastructure & services.
Familiarity with provisioning services through 'Infrastructure as Code' techniques and practices.
Excellent planning, time management, organisation, and communication skills.
