Te Tūranga - The Role
Are you passionate about innovative design and engineering? We are seeking a talented and creative Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and refining cutting-edge products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring concepts to life, and ensuring our designs meet the highest standards of quality and functionality.
If you have a strong background in engineering design, a keen eye for detail, and a desire to contribute to groundbreaking projects, we want to hear from you.
The focus of the position is:
  • Maintenance and evolution of Tait's Terminals products
  • Embedded firmware design, implementation and test
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct requirements analysis and modelling
  • Develop design specifications and implement solutions
  • Debugging and correcting faulty design.
  • Demonstrating up-to-date knowledge in the discipline by contributions in technical discussions, writing technical papers/studies and delivering presentations as requested.
  • Participation in formal review of his or her work and test results, and where appropriate, initiation and leadership of peer reviews.

Ō pūkenga - About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant Bachelor, Postgraduate or other appropriate tertiary level NZQA approved qualification or relevant experience in the discipline.
As well as:
  • A keen interest in technology and solving problems
  • Experience developing software in a collaborative team environment
  • Proficient with C or C++ programming
  • Experience in use of Python scripting language would be advantageous
  • Experience with wireless communications (Land Mobile Radio, Bluetooth, Wi Fi) would be advantageous
  • Exposure to the full lifecycle of commercial product development
  • Good Communication skills demonstrated by written contributions and verbal presentations.
