About the role
As the Corporate Communications Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving Hutt City Council's corporate communication function. This includes developing and executing strategic communication plans, managing the council's brand identity, engaging with media, and leading internal communication efforts.
An initial focus for the role will be implementing a long-term organisational communications strategy that align with Council's goals and drives integration across our communications. This is an opportunity to start from the beginning and make it your own. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a positive organisational culture and supporting our people to achieve their best.
About you
You are an experienced communication professional with a proven track record in strategic communication leadership roles.
You will have a deep understanding of reputation management and be able to think creatively about how we can reach our community. You will also be able to develop organisation-wide communications strategies, oversee brand and media, and drive innovation in our social media.
Relationships are key to this role, and you should have the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Finally, we are looking for someone who is an authentic leader, who can support the team to grow and deliver exceptional results.
Key skills and attributes:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience in strategic communication leadership roles
  • Strong experience in communication strategy, media relations,
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience in local government or the public sector is desirable
