Ngā kawenga | About the role A unique opportunity has become available working for our Emergency Management team. As Adviser Emergency Management you will contribute to the development and implementation of processes, procedures and guidelines to support emergency management operational practice with the Department. In this role you will support emergency management capability enablers such as training and exercising. The Emergency Management team sits within the Custodial Operations Group of Ara Poutama Aotearoa and our role is to ensure our staff are confident and are competent to effectively respond to incidents and emergencies. This means we provide expert advice, tools and guidance to support the on-going development of the Departments Emergency Management capability and capacity. This position is based in Wellington, however for the right candidate partial-remote working might be considered by agreement. You will require a Full New Zealand Drivers Licence and must have the flexibility to travel and form a part of the national response to an emergency if/when needed. You will also be required to go on an on-call 24/7 roster. He kōrero mōu | About you We are looking for someone with excellent communication and project management skills, and the ability to maintain strong internal and external relationships. You will be deft hand at writing both operational and strategic policy and framework level documents. Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience To be successful in this role you will have:
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead or facilitate group sessions.
The ability to work efficiently and effectively to provide quality written work.
Experience in an Emergency Management role in an operational organisation would be ideal, however if you are a skilled writer with a good understanding of developing systems and processes in an operational setting, we also welcome your application.
Experience working in a coordination centre and/or a NZQA unit standard in Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) would be ideal, but training will be provided for a suitable candidate.
This position requires a university degree in emergency management or relevant discipline. Utu ā-tau | Salary The midpoint of the salary range is $84,594 and the full range (85%-120%) is $71,905 - $101,513. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
