Position Summary:
Performs a variety of professional level engineering duties. Test Engineers create and implement test cases, including documenting defects and failures, to ensure a quality product.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Sets up, programs, and runs test lab equipment
- Designs tests to ensure customer specifications are met
- Provides feedback to Program Engineering, R&D Engineering, and Advanced Engineering on tests requested
- Performs failure analysis on tests that do not pass test specifications
- Troubleshoots lab equipment failures and help to resolve issues quickly
- Prepares test reports for external and internal customers
- Provides feedback on test results to external customers and be available to attend customer meetings
- Works with Lab Technicians with a goal of minimizing LTR’s past due
- Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data results through thorough documentation processes
- Must operate in a manner that reinforces, supports and is consistent with the Cooper Standard Leadership Model
- Ensures 6S, housekeeping, and health & safety standards are maintained
- Contracting, scheduling, and supervising tests with sub‐contracting facilities
- May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
Education and Qualifications:
- Four Year College or University Degree or equivalent
- Two to four years of relevant work experience
- Fabrication, blueprint reading skills, and equipment knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of statistics
- Strong mechanical aptitude, as well as technical and analytical problem‐solving skills
- Skills or working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Recognizes and solves typical problems that can occur in own work area without supervisory approval; evaluates and selects solutions from established alternatives
- Impacts own team through the quality of the services or information provided; follows standardized procedures and practices and receives regular but moderate supervision and guidance
- Exchanges information and seeks understanding
