Your Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead and manage our cutting-edge development teams focused on the Apache Gluten and Prestissimo projects. This role requires a deep understanding of distributed systems, open-source software, and the ability to drive technical excellence across complex, large-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the engineering teams working on Apache Gluten and Prestissimo, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
• Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of development projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance. Coordinate across teams to align with product goals and timelines.
• Technical Guidance: Provide strong technical leadership in the design, development, and optimization of distributed systems and query engines. Ensure the implementation of best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, QA, and customer support, to ensure the successful integration of Gluten and Prestissimo into broader platforms and products.
• Open Source Engagement: Engage with the open-source community, representing the company in relevant forums, contributing to community discussions, and managing relationships with external partners and contributors.
• Career Development: Support the growth and development of team members by providing feedback, identifying training opportunities, and helping them achieve their career goals.
• Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively to meet project goals, balancing team workloads, and managing project budgets where necessary.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Experience: 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.

• Technical Expertise: Strong background in distributed systems, query engines, or similar high-performance computing environments. Experience with Apache projects, particularly Gluten, or similar open-source projects is highly desirable.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire engineering teams, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within scope.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or equivalent experience is a plus.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Open Source: Experience working with or contributing to open-source projects. A deep understanding of the open-source ecosystem and community dynamics.
• Familiarity with Velox Library: Knowledge of the Velox library and its applications in building high-performance query engines.
• Cloud Experience: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, particularly in the context of data processing and analytics.
• Agile Methodologies: Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience in applying them to software development projects.
