Job Overview: We are looking for a diligent and detail-oriented Lab Assistant - Microbiologist to join our Research & Development team. The ideal candidate will assist in conducting microbiological tests and analyses that support the development of our organic products. This role involves working closely with senior microbiologists and other team members to ensure the quality and safety of our products. Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Support: Assist in setting up and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring that all instruments are calibrated and functioning correctly.
Sample Preparation: Prepare and process samples for microbiological testing, including the preparation of culture media, reagents, and solutions.
Microbiological Testing: Perform routine microbiological tests, such as culturing, staining, and identifying microorganisms, under the supervision of senior microbiologists.
Data Collection and Documentation: Accurately record test results, observations, and any deviations in laboratory logs and reports.
Quality Control: Monitor and maintain laboratory cleanliness, and ensure that all procedures adhere to standard operating protocols (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
Inventory Management: Manage laboratory supplies and reagents, keeping track of stock levels and placing orders as needed to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Research & Development team to support ongoing projects, providing assistance in experimental design and data interpretation.
Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper waste disposal and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe working environment.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest microbiological techniques and developments relevant to organic product testing and contribute to the improvement of laboratory processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory, preferably within the agriculture or food industry.
Basic knowledge of microbiological techniques, including culturing, staining, and aseptic techniques.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in conducting tests and recording data.
Ability to follow protocols and work under the supervision of senior staff.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and the use of PPE.
A passion for sustainability and organic agriculture is a plus.
