Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics, School of Natural Sciences.
The Department of Mathematics (https://math.snu.edu.in/) at Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence, seeks applicants for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Minimum Eligibility: Ph.D. in Mathematics, strong research background, post-doctoral research experience/industry experience.

About the Department of Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics at Shiv Nadar Institutiojn of Eminence offers programmes and courses that embody the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature of the university. Its academic programs provide a solid base both for further studies as well as for careers in industry. There is a great demand for mathematicians in various sectors: investment banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, engineering consultancies, medical research, bioinformatics, software, computer security, and defense. Well trained students are also sought by universities all over the world for their research programs. The Department of Mathematics offers B.Sc. (Research), and Ph.D programmes. A special feature is the integration of hands-on work and research into all our programs.
Other distinguishing characteristics are:
- Melting of the artificial barriers between pure and applied mathematics and between mathematics and other disciplines.
- Emphasis on modern computing skills and project work featuring applications to real-world problems.
- Accessibility to students from diverse backgrounds.
The faculty members have expertise across diverse areas of both pure and applied mathematics, such as functional analysis, differential geometry, number theory, representation theory, quantum groups, complex networks, mathematical modelling, statistics, mathematical finance, mathematical biology, and machine learning. They have studied or worked at leading institutions across the world, and their research is published in journals of high international repute. With sixteen faculty members, the Department is well-placed to offer a variety of courses and activities.
Activities & Recognition: In 2015, we won the DST-FIST grant towards setting up a Departmental Research Computer Lab, as well as a dedicated Department Library. We have also hosted and organized important national conferences and schools in mathematics such as the Annual Foundational School, Advanced Instructional School, Annual Conference of Indian Women in Mathematics, Annual Conference of Ramanujan Mathematical Society, National Conference on Cross-Disciplinary Applications of Networks, Discussion Meeting on Zero Mean Curvature Surfaces in the Lorentz-Minkowski space, National Conference on Operator Theory and Function Spaces etc.
