Key Responsibilities:

Ensure timely and accurate payment of ocean freight charges to vendors.
Reconcile ocean freight payable accounts on a regular basis to ensure financial accuracy.
Uses operational knowledge to apply resolution to open carrier payable issues
Identify and resolve discrepancies between freight invoices and general ledger accounts.
Prepare weekly reconciliation reports for management review and supplier review
Acts as a relationship builder across various internal stakeholders
Communicate with vendors to address payment inquiries and negotiate payment terms as needed.
Work closely with operations teams to ensure alignment of financial and operational processes.
Identify areas for process improvement in the payables function and implement best practices internally with cross functions and externally with suppliers
Works directly with the ocean carriers to identify improvement opportunities

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in accounts payable, finance, or logistics, with a focus on ocean freight preferred.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reconciliation processes.
Proficiency in operational system and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), fluent in English
Proven hands-on experience in used operational and accounting system
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain good vendor relationships and collaborate with internal teams.
Ability to proactively work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrates the ability to independently identify tasks and projects
Take the initiative to start and follow through without needing external prompting
