About the role Work hand in hand with volunteers, staff, and communities, and provide healthcare services to patients at MEDLIFE Mobile Clinics in low-income communities in Costa Rica. By achieving that, you will contribute to one of MEDLIFE core focuses by providing access to quality health to low-income patients. What will your day-to-day look like at MEDLIFE?
Provide outpatient medical care to patients in mobile medical campaigns (in low-income communities).
Issue the pertinent medical prescriptions according to the patient's diagnosis.
Supervise a small group of volunteers who will assist and shadow you during Mobile Clinics.
Complete and present the report of patients attended following the internal guidelines of the organization.
Guide the field team about the guidelines to follow when running a mobile clinic.
Give talks about:
The reality of health services in Costa Rica and/or other regions of Latin America.
Comparative data regarding health development in the districts of Lima versus other cities in Latin America or developed countries.
Good practices related to health development.
Answer the questions of the volunteers.
What will you bring?
University Degree in Medicine accredited by the institution of Medicine in Costa Rica.
2+ years of work experience as a graduated doctor.
Advanced level of English and Spanish.
Must have a valid license to work as a doctor in Costa Rica.
Work experience in the field caring for patients in rural communities.
Be a professional committed to social development.
Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing at a professional level with proper grammar and language.
Knowledge of local agencies, community programs, and services.
Live in Guanacaste or San Jose area.
