Team Overview and Job responsibilities
Prysmian is looking for a Senior Accountant Specialist to support our Financial and Accounting team based in Heredia, Costa Rica and reporting to Corporate Accounting Manager. In this position you will be responsible for the preparation of journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations, internal reporting and assisting with the month end close. Additionally, the position is responsible for the review, analysis, and payment process of the Company’s third party’s agent commissions and SQC rebates. This position has no direct reports furthermore it mainly interacts with other accounting and functional area personnel.
Job responsibilities:
- Processing of third-party vendor and intercompany invoices.
- Perform queries, inquiries, and reporting functions for payables.
- Communicate possible issues/risks with team.
- Responsible for the entry of several journal entries prepared by other departments and locations during the month-end process.
- Assist with the month-end close process through the preparation of general ledger journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations and internal reporting and supporting schedules; this includes performing account analysis, investigating variances and issue resolution.
- Monitors, reviews, and reconciles specific general ledger accounts.
- Works with foreign intercompany partners on balancing and billing of cross charges.
- Tax fillings preparation.
- Backup of G/L accountant team.
- Maintains documentation to support AP transactions that facilitates the efficient review and audit of books and records.
- Comply with all internal control procedures to ensure accurate financial records, particularly in relation to Corporate Delegation of Authority policy.
- Performs other related duties as required or requested by the Corporate Accounting Manager.
Who are we looking for?
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 2 - 4 years related accounting experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel Advanced level).
- Assess a problem and resolve or escalate it to the Accountant Manager.
- Knowledge on local tax matters.
- Self-starter able to operate independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience in accounts payable position.
- Able to be trusted with “confidential” information.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple demands.
- Quick learner able to maintain accuracy and organization with a strong attention for detail.
Preferred qualifications
- Intermediate to advance English level. (Desirable)
- SAP ERP experience
- Experience with Business Intelligence Tools (Microsoft Power Query, Power BI, MS)
