Team overview and job responsibilities
Prysmian is looking for a R&D Energy Project Engineer to join our R&D team. Based in Heredia - Costa Rica, you will be responsible for the activities of analysis, planning, research, studies, customers training, internal technical training, preparation and development of products, from its conception and design to new products or / and improvement of existing ones, based on customer needs, preparing estimates of costs, deadlines, conducting various tests, based on local and international guidelines, techniques and technologies preestablished by the Matrix, aiming to provide the company with competitive products in costs quality, safety, health and the environment.
Job responsibilities
- Search and implement cost-effective and saving opportunities in all possible products, materials, processes, and methodologies (prioritizing the highest impact for the business: fast movers, high margin, and strategic families).
- Develop products, elaborating conceptions and designs, equipment specifications, prototypes, materials, processes, and methods, as well as monitoring the construction, tests, and analysis of results.
- Spec-in activity as per selected customers/technologies (based on regional business strategy).
- Ensure that product development is within the technical and technological standards of the company's quality, and meets all requirements declared in the technical specifications of supply and within the agreed deadlines, as well as their compliance with international technical standards, including safety, health, and environment aspects.
- Prepare technical documentation, issuance of reports and technical opinions, as well as update manuals, through studies, data collections and operational training programs, and generate technical and safety specifications of products and processes.
- Technical support to the factory in any industrialization phase as part of the product lifecycle management end-to-end with focus on volume scale-up as well as stability.
- Coordinate engineering activities with manufacturing to ensure product trials are scheduled and concluded.
- Technical support to Marketing (technical brochures, webinars, catalogues...) and commercial (visits to regional strategic customers helping with technical trainings and doubts clarifications).
- Conduct technical and technological prospecting, identifying needs for improvements and improvements of products, processes, and methodologies, pointing out trends of technologies in the market that provide increased quality, rationalization, and cost reduction, aiming to meet the needs of customers.
- Issue reports regarding technical and operational occurrences in studies and/or implementations/modifications carried out, keeping aware teams and other professionals involved and the recommended actions.
- Develop and monitor projects of modifications of processes and production equipment.
Who are we looking for?
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in the manufacturing industry
- Language: intermediate to advanced English skills
- Negotiation Skills
- Good communication skills
- Driven, operative, and strongly motivated person
- High attention to detail and quick learner
- Strong project management skills, follow-through, and results-driven
- Problem-solving and target-oriented – pragmatic to solve engineering problems
- Knowledge of common software like Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Auto CAD.
