As part of Parks Canada's energetic Visitor Experience team in Dawson, you will deliver visitor services at Parks Canada's counter within the Dawson visitor information center and in various locations in the Klondike National Historic Sites.

You will be the face of Parks Canada - the first to greet and welcome visitors to our community and share the enthusiasm and passion for everything Dawson has to offer. You will be responsible for point-of-sale transactions, delivering public safety and interpretive messages, and assisting in the operation of the sales outlet

The Yukon Field Unit is one of the most diverse field units across the country.
Geographically dispersed over 1200km across the Yukon, northern BC, and into Alaska, we offer a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors and staff. Our sites offer diverse and varied opportunities to explore Yukon’s beautiful landscape – from the glorious SS Klondike National Historic Site in Whitehorse, to the fabled Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site, to Canada’s largest ice field and extreme peaks in Kluane National Park and Reserve, extending to the colorful Klondike National Historic Sites in Dawson, to Vuntut National Park located above the Arctic Circle.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
  • Experience in interacting with the public in a reception/orientation capacity
  • Experience in handling cash and operating point of sales
  • Experience in maintaining/restocking supplies and equipment
  • Experience in the maintenance of facilities

  • Make moderate physical effort to sit and stand for prolonged periods and/or to clean
facilities/grounds
  • Be exposed to variable weather conditions

  • Be exposed to minor injury when performing cleaning and maintenance activities
  • Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others
  • Work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays.
  • Wear a Parks Canada uniform as per the uniform policy and/or dress in period costume, as per Parks Canada requirements.

Conditions of employment
