An acceptable combination of education, training and experience relevant to the position and/or successful completion of Grade 12.

EXPERIENCE
  • Recent and significant experience in semi-skilled trades;
  • Experience working in grounds maintenance.

KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of materials, tools and equipment used in construction;
  • Knowledge of safety standards and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
  • Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance practices.
ABILITIES
  • Ability to handle building materials and use manual and electric tools;
  • Ability to use light mechanical equipment;
  • Ability to identify problems with equipment and troubleshoot when equipment is not functioning;
  • Ability to apply safety standards and to work safely and efficiently.

ASSET KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) in order to use a computer.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Willingness to work weekends, evenings, flexible hours, overtime and/or statutory holidays;
  • Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions and in isolated and remote areas;
  • Willingness to wear a Parks Canada Agency uniform and personal protective equipment/clothing as needed;
  • Perform physical labour and lift up to 50 lbs.
Conditions of employment
  • Obtain and maintain a Reliability security clearance;
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license;
  • A pre-employment medical examination of an individual and his/her dependants may be required (When position is located in an area classified as isolated and remote, a pre-employment medical examination of an individual and his/her dependents may be required).
