Bear Cottage is the only children's hospice in NSW, is part of the Sydney Children's Hospital Network and is based in Manly. We are seeking Undergraduate Nursing students who are in their 4th semester to work alongside our experienced RN's and Allied Health team to provide care to the children and their siblings who stay at Bear Cottage. Experience working with babies and children of all ages and flexibility to work a range of shifts is desired. Some knowledge of paediatric palliative care and hospice care is also desired. The AIN will be supported by the CNE and a strong multidisciplinary team but will need to have initiative and strong communication skills.

What you'll be doing
The undergraduate Assistant in Nursing provides safe, compassionate, person-centred care to patients and families of the Sydney Children's Hospital Network, under the direct supervision of an Enrolled Nurse or a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife.
The Assistant in Nursing acts as a role model by demonstrating behaviours and interacting with patients, their families and employees to promote a culture and standards that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness , Respect and Empowerment.
  • Documented evidence of undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing (3rd yr.) or Masters (2nd Yr.) which would lead to Registration with the National Registration Board (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
  • Previous recent relevant experience as an Assistant in Nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an effective team member.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Australian citizenship or a visa which permits employment in Australia
