The Library is seeking to fill an ongoing Library Officer, Reading Room Operations APS 3 role in the Reader Services Section of the Engagement Branch.
This is an expected vacancy commencing February 2025.
You will play a key role in providing customer-centric services within the Library’s reading rooms. Your responsibilities will include handling enquiries both onsite and through the Library’s online and phone reference channels, as well as assisting users with Library equipment, systems and services.
You will be part of a team responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of the reading rooms, handling a mix of both physical and administrative tasks. Additionally, you will engage with internal and external stakeholders, conduct staff training on service delivery, and make use of various online systems to enhance client services.
We are seeking individuals with experience in providing library services who can support researchers and visitors in accessing the National Library’s collections.
As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, contribute to achieving team goals, and show strong prioritisation skills and attention to detail in a dynamic environment.
To be successful in this role, it is desirable that you hold qualifications or equivalent experience in Information Management, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences.
This role includes regular evening and weekend work – undertaken during the Library’s advertised reading room opening hours.
